Could Fall From Bottom Stair To Floor Cause Broken Bone?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... My 97 year goes down the stairs backwards using both arms to hold on to the banister. He just missed the bottom stair and fell to the floor. He said it is sore, but that he is sure nothing is broken. Advice?
