Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
At the age of 80 years all the organic causes need to be ruled out. It would be wise to get her checked for hypothyroidism in which case she would have similar symptoms. Yes, depression can lead to such a symptom but then there are other depressive symptoms as well. You may take her to a psychiatrist who can examine her ones and suggest further investigations.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
