Could Foot Pain Be Due To Bunion?

Hi. My name is Jennifer and I'm a 40 year old female. I have been experiencing sharp pain on the top of my foot for about a week now. The pain is right next to the ball joint, but doesn't feel like it's in the joint itself. The pain is very sharp and happens most of the time when I'm inactive. Could this be a bunion?
