Could Frequent And Recurring UTI Be Due To Scar Tissue In Urethra?

Hi, I drink enough water and take all the precautions to defend myself against UTI, but I still am succeptable for frequent UTI. I can feel a immediate irritation in my urethral miatus after a sip of bear and wine. I am not a heavy drinker at all. Spicy food seem to irritate my bladder as well. I had a Urethra dilitation done 7 years ago. It worked for me for a while, My urine always has a chalk like residual . I think I might have a scar tissue in my urethra or maybe it s something else???

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
It is unfortunate that you are having recurrent urinary tract infection. There might be some scar tissue in urethra, but that should not be the cause for your recurrent infection.
The other reason which could be causing irritation of urethra and bladder, based on the fact that your urine has chalk like residual thing, it could be due to kidney stones.
Kindly get the following investigations done to know about its status.
1. Ultrasound abdomen for kidney stones.
2. Urine routine.
3. Urine for culture and sensitivity.
Based on the results, you can take opinion from an Urologist for further management.
Wish you good health.
