Could Gravel Feeling In Chest And Throat Be Related To Bulimia?

I have been having a heavy feeling in the middle of my chest/throat area. I fee like i have gravel in my throat too. I have had bulimia issues on and off for about 15 years and I think these symptoms are because of the eating dissorder. Any idea what may be causeing the gravel feeling?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
It is not directly related to bulimia. But ya it depends on your weight and BMI. Symptoms you described is related to some gastrointestinal tract problem mostly to esophagus or stomach.Either there is constriction of tract or may be ulcerative/inflammatory changes. Sonography or barium swallow or may be upper GI scopy needed to reach proper diagnosis. And ya you should also take treatment for bulimia.

Psychiatrist Dr. Gaurav Kumar's  Response
Eating disorders ( Bulimia / anorexia) result due to stress and anxiety. Bulimia often results in being overweight. You have not mentioned your age/ sex/ occupation/ weight/ family history of any psychiatric disorder/ history of gastric irritaion. if you are overweight / aged more than 35 years / smoker or alcoholic / using antacids/ habituated of taking spicy , oily foods, then you should get your Blood pressure/ blood sugar - fasting and post prandial/ ECG/ lipid profile/ thyroid profile - it should be done as a general physical routine checkup. Roughly , if there is any cause besides Eating disorders , it would be clear after these tests. if you have any further queries , you are most welcome. Hope my answer is helpful.
