Could Helix Piercing Cause Lump On The Side Of Neck?

i recently got a helix piercing and my ear has been infected for about a week now. My neck has started to get sore and my ear has been throbbing. I have just noticed a lump on the side of my neck near my glands. Is the piercing the cause? Is this any cause for alarm?

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have soreness in ear and lumps on side of neck after helix piercing . There can be many reason for soreness . Sometimes infection occur during piercing and ear get sore . There can be other reasons also like irritation of skin. In case if the lump has occurred after two weeks of the pricking it can be due to trauma caused while wearing the earring or infection in the pricked site leading to formation of a small abscess. Normal piercing take 4-8 week for healing , Sometimes cartilage piercing take little longer time . But in your case it has been six year you are suffering from soreness of ear . I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper checkup and treatment . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics for at about a week . Do not wear anything in ear till they heal properly. Steroid based ointments can also help in regressing the lesion.
