Could I Have Picked Up An Infection While Performing The Urine Test?

Hi, im a 27 year old female. I have been experiencing severe backache. I have a 4 year old child and had a c section. I developed hemarrhoids. I used anusol for the pain and itching, this helped a little however its still there. I saw my doctor, she did a urine test to rule out infections for backache, test was clear, however the day after i started experiencing severe vaginal itching around the vulva, no discharge. I went back to my doctor, she diagnosed thrush, prescribed canex v and 3 flucanazole pills, it helped a bit however itching is still bad although im using the cream for a week. She also prescribed suppositories for hemarrhoids but still itchy. This is the first time i have experienced this. Could i have picked up an infection while performing the urine test as it started straight after?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. If fluconazole gave you some relief, you can take it for 4-7 more days for complete relief.

To answer your other question, it is very difficult to predict when you got infected with the fungus. As you were already experiencing some symptoms when you visited the doctor, it is possible that you already had the same infection before you visited her. Good doctors usually use sterilized instruments and take care not to cross-infect patients.

I would also advise you to maintain proper genital hygiene. Always clean the area from front to back and not back to front. Golden rule to prevent vaginal infections is, "do not forget to urinate after every sexual intercourse."

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
