Could Inhaling Bleach Cause Dizziness And Lightheadedness?

Thanks. Yesterday I moved into an apartment. I cleaned everything with bleach. Last night when bending down to plug in my Tablet I felt a little light headed. This morning when I awoke I felt dizzy as though my head was spinning so I stayed in bed then got up slowly. Could the bleach cause this reaction?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, inhaling bleach fumes can cause chlorine poisoning leading to dizziness or lightheadedness. Inhalation of too much of fumes may affect your lungs and cause pneumonia. If the exposure is little, your symptoms will reduce on its own. I would suggest you to take a chest X-ray in case of severe breathing difficulty.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
