Could Irregular Periods Be Due To IUD?

Hello Doctor My wife, who is 27 yrs and living with a 2.8 yrs son, is having irregular menstruation since several months (Amenorrhoea?). She was thinking if this could be due to the stress and/or IUD and recently visited a doctor in Tirupati. After scanning and ultrasound the doctor said everything is fine, except presence of a smooth walled unilocular cyst in right ovary. The doctor prescribed Gynaset, to be used twice a day for 10 days. She said, it seems, that one week after she stopped using the tablets she will get normal periods. However, I am astonished to hear that Gynaset is in deed used for postponement of the menstrual cycle. Is there any reason/logic why she prescribed Gynaset to my wife? Could you please guide us what is the best way to follow now. What are the long term health concerns/consequences of Amenorrhoea? Should she continue to use the Gynaset or stop immediately. What are the tests/method recommended/followed to identify her exact problem? Could you please recommend name of a specialist for this in Tirupati region? Is there any other medicine that you can recommend her to use until she gets an appointment with the specialist? Thank you

hi thanks for writing to us.
we understand your concern
gynaset is a hormonal pill which is given for with drawl bleeding and postpondment of periods
without medical help it is not advisable to take hormonal tablets.
causes of ammenhorea vary from pregnancy, stress, thyroid diorders, pcos, obesity, and many more
you wifes bmi ,when was her last menstural period, was a pregnancy done to rule out pregnancy before taking gynaset, even with iucd there are chances that she can become pregnant especially in the fallopian tubes
a smooth cyst less than 4 cms should not be a reason for worry
i am sorry i dont know anyone in tirupathi to recommend for consulatation
she should finish the course of gynaset with out any break.after stopping gynaset she will have withdrawl bleeding withi 10 days.
hope this information was useful
