Could Ischemic Brain Disease Be Related To Personality Disorder?

My mother is 63 yrs. old and has recently been diagnosed with kidney infarction, clot to her spleen and also ischemic brain disease. My question is for the past 10 years she has had episodes of paranoia/ personality disorder ...in her mind she feels people are coming into her house and taking things, could this be related? does this affect the personality part of the brain?
