Could Light Bleeding Despite The ECP Still Be A Pregnancy?
After having the morning after pill(on the 3rd) and what I though was a period but lighter (starting on the 16th)....could I be pregnant still...the bleeding was not as it usually is...and I am still getting the odd bit of really dark brownish blood. any information or advise would be appriciated....Thanks
It is very common for women to have some vaginal bleeding 5-7 days after taking the morning after pill. This is actually partially caused by how the morning after pill works; it causes a drop in hormones similar to a menstrual period. So the fact that you had spotting actually is a sign that the morning after pill worked successfully. This bleeding is not your period, it is only a side effect of the medication.
You will likely have your regular menstrual cycle slightly later than usual after taking the morning after pill, which is also common.
Emergency contraception is 90% effective in preventing pregnancy. . There is more than 2 weeks late, he should perform a urine pregnancy test according to package directions. If it is negative, you do not need to worry about pregnancy as enough time will have gone by since your unprotected encounter that the test definitely would be positive if you had conceived.
I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my device was helpful.
