Could Liquid Oozing Blisters On Legs Be Cellulitis?
Hello I am man of 30 years old currently in Cambodia since January... I did scubadiving repeatedly (my job) since I m here and slept in a bungalow on a nearly unhabited island since I am here... I started to be sick 2 weeks ago for the first time severely since I m here ( I was also here for 6 months last year and previously in Vanuatu for 6 months) previous to that and never been sick for more than a day or 2 before now except some minor staph infection on my leggs which happen to nearly everybody diving daily) the symptoms were: fever, abundant sweating especially at night (changing shirt 3-4 time each night) massive headache and lost of appetite ( only soup and fruit for 8-10 days) that s it... I went after 8 days to get blood test in a private clinic who was negative for: typhoid, dengue and malaria but they as expected detected a high level of white cell in my blood. After that (without meds except advil garlic fruit ginger and a lot of water) I started feeling little bit better and suddenly something who look like a muffler burn appear on my right leg and 3 days after (2 days ago) something who look like a big blister with liquid in it appear on my left leg. I went back to the clinic where they told me after a very summary exam that I got celulitis they open both wounds and clean and bandage them. They prescribe me oflozil 200 ( a generic Indian meds of ofloxacin) 2 times a day for 5 days with acetaminophen (since advil is counterindicated with ofloxacin) and send me home telling me to not wet the wound and keep the bandages for 3 days... So 1. What do u think of the diagnosis? 2. Is it the best antibiotics for celulitis (I heard there s a lot of bacteria resisting this particular antibiotic in SE asia)? 3. Should I live it covered or try to dry them a few hour a day in my hotel room? And finally 4. Should and can I put a Antibiotic powder (banocin) or a cream (fucidin 2%) to accelerate the process? Thanks a lot for a 2nd opinion since its Cambodia and the doctors barly speaks English... I haven t got new symptom since and they kind of look little bit better than before. P.s. sorry if it s not the right place to post questions and please send it to the right post or question board
* As per my clinical experience, the liquid oozing blisters on legs may indicate various issues as
- bacterial infection breaching the continuity of the skin epidermis
- injury episode during scooba diving
- cellulitis with secondary bacterial infection as gram positive bacteria like staph aureus or others
- certain cases of Vibrio Vulnificus do present with soft tissue cellulitis or even gangrene changes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
