Could Long Term Use Of Xanax Cause Ringing And Pain In Ears With Pressure Around Head?

Yes I just spent five days at UCLA for the seizure disorder study and I am having incredible ringing this in my ears pain in my neck pressure all around my head my true feelings is it s being caused long-term effects from Xanax I take 2 mg a day for 20 years the 1 mg for the last 15 or so and 2 mg last two

Hello,

You have a history of long term use of Xanax. Side effect of Alprazolam (Xanax) is tinnitus. Withdrawing from it may worsen the symptoms of tinnitus. Other medicines like diazepam (Valium) and lorazepam (Ativan) are benzodiazepines used for the treatment of anxiety but may cause tinnitus.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, get tests done so that treatment (with medicines or surgery) for tinnitus can be started. You will have to get audiometry test also done to detect any hearing loss. You may require hearing aid machine.

You should report to the doctor who gave you xanax about the symptoms so that he can monitor you and help you with other medications. To detox, get connected to a detox center so that your withdrawal symptoms will be taken care of urgently and you are comfortable.
