Could Meth Be Secreted Through Pores And Cause Headache And Respiratory Problems?

Hmm. I'm a nurse in an ICU an I have a patient that is a heavy meth user. I've noticed an odd smell in the room and several people (ACP, Resp, other nurses) as well as myself. Among the staff there have been complaints of headaches and even respritory issues. Is it possible for meth to be secreted through the pores and cause these types of reactions?

Hi,

Yes, the metabolites of meth are excreted through the skin and result in a foul odor. But I do not know if these can be strong enough to cause respiratory problems in others. I guess it may be because some people are very sensitive to smells.

Best wishes.
