Could My High Blood Sugar Levels Be Caused By Taking Crina NCR For PCOS Treatment?
I have PCOS for last 11 years. Last year doctor gave me crina ncr for 21 days as I had heavy bleeding with clots. After that my sugar level pp went up to 240 in some days. After 2-3 months agains my blood sugar levels were back to normal. Doctor again gave me crina ncr last month for 15 days. Now again my sugar level fasting has went up to 140. Can you tell me if it is because of hormonal medicine? Because before that I never had high blood sugar.
Yes, Crina NCR (norethisterone) is a synthetic progestin. There is a possibility it contributes to elevated blood sugar levels, especially in women with PCOS. Since after taking Crina NCR for 15 days, your fasting sugar shows elevated levels. The test result strongly suggests Crina NCR is contributing to your blood sugar spikes.
Crina NCR is sometimes necessary to control heavy bleeding in PCOS, but in women with a tendency toward high sugar, it should be used cautiously. It is advised to regularly monitor blood sugar levels while taking Crina-NCR tablets. You are advised to consult with the treating doctor so that an alternative to Norethisterone can be used.
You should get an HbA1c test (to check average sugar over 3 months). Monitor your blood sugar regularly. Long-term use of progestins in women at risk may increase chances of developing prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
