Could Nausea, Heart Burn And Abdominal Pain Be Due To Implanon?

I have had the implanon for 3 years now. It s scheduled to come out this month. I understand that you can have pregnancy symptoms while on the implanon but I have had a regular menstrual for the past year but I haven t had one since the first of May this year. I have also experienced nausea, heart burn (which I haven t had since I was pregnant with my son 6 years ago,) and some lower abdominal pain over the last month. I took 2 home pregnancy tests a couple of weeks ago that showed negative. I was just wondering if the implanon could cause a false negative or if this is all in my head.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, side effect of Implanon does not manifest at a period of 3 years now.

* Current symptoms of nausea, heart burn and abdomen pain sound to be in concern with intestine infection through some sort of bacteria or virus most likely.

* Additional precautions for food intake intake of proton pump inhibitor antacid as syrup mylanta will help to recover faster.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
