Could Not Taking Folic Acid Till 12th Week Of Pregnancy Affect The Fetus?

Hello ,i just want to know if folic acid not taken till 12th week is it necessary that fetus may have deficiency s?? yet not taken any pregnancy test but had few n rare pregnancy symptoms but entered 12th week n all symptoms disappeared...Regards

I understand your concern.
Folic acid taken during first 12 weeks of pregnancy prevent spinal cord /brain abnormalities in fetus. But this does not mean that not taking supplements would cause defects... because one can get folic acid from green vegetables,sprouts,wheat, cabbage,spinach,soya bean,beet root, fish, milk, oranges...
Only folic acid deficiency can lead to defects in baby.
