Could Occasional Exposure To Third-hand Smoke In A House With No Current Smoke Odor Be A Health Risk To An Infant?
My son and his wife are concerned about bringing their 5-month-old daughter into my house because of the chance of third hand smoke exposure. I have lived in my two-story home for 25 years. During those 25 years cigarettes have been smoked in the basement from time to time. There is no cigarette smoke odor in the house and no one would be smoking while the baby was in the house. Would exposure to third hand smoke present a health hazard to a 5-month-old baby if they spend the night in this house once a month and did not go into the basement.
