Could On And Off Mild Headache Causing Fatigue During Teenage Be Due To Stress?

I have been having a mild headache for the past 2 days. It only comes for about three hours but it makes me feel tired. I m a twelve year old girl and I m not sure if its stress, the strain of my eyes, not enough sleep, or my period (I have not gotten my first yet). Anyway, can you diagnose me?

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to tension type headache. This is a benign type of headache, caused by the contractions of the scalp muscles, usually related to psychological and physical stress.

I would recommend taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen for the pain.

A lot of physical activity ( walking, gym, jogging) would help prevent this type of headache.

If the problem persists, I would recommend consulting with a neurologist for a careful physical exam. An antidepressant may be started in case of chronic headache (more than half of the month).

Hope to have been of help!
Best wishes,
Dr. Aida
