Could Oozing Sores On Hands After Putting Oil On Cattle Indicate Cowpox?

I have contacted orf on my hands so the doctor says but i have not been in contact with sheep or goats. I put burnt oil on my herd of cattle because I thought they had ringworm. I did not use a glove. Now I have sores that are oozing and would like to know what you think it is. Would it be cowpox?

Hello,

The oozing sores on your hands after putting oil on cattle is indicating possible skin allergy from the oil as you mention not to use the gloves. I do not think it's cowpox, however, you can send a picture of the oozing sores to me.

For the moment, I advise to:
- Keep good hand hygiene
- Wash with warm water and soap
- Apply Betaine solution locally
- After that apply mixed triple antibiotic treatment with Hydrocortisone cream locally
- Apply aloe vera gel during the day

Do regular follow ups with your caring doctor if this does not work for you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
