My son a 17 year old male has been diagnosed with nutcracker syndrome which has been confirmed with contrast ct scan. He presented with hematuria, left testicular pain severe, and severe abdominal pain, dysuria. What is the recommended first treatment option.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

Yes all these symptoms are related to nutcracker syndrome. Renal vein is compressed in this syndrome. Surgery is the only option available. There are different options available for surgery like endovascular stenting, vein reimplant or embolisation. Its purely a treating surgeon's choice based on abnormalities.

Meanwhile keep giving good food to your son as surgery is major one and good nutritional status will fasten the recovery.

I hope my reply will benefit you. I wish your son good health. Please write for follow up queries. Kindly write a feedback. Thank you
