Hello. Following a big dinner with alchohol I threw up. This was 48 hours ago. The vommiting lasted until my stomach was empty. I did strain/dry heave a few times. Im now left with pain on my right side near my gall bladder and liver. I havent vommited since and had many meals. Im womdering if this is simply a muscle strain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
In all possibility, it is a muscle strain of the right abdomen, occurred due to straining during vomiting. Please give rest to your body, and avoid any strenuous physical activity, and the muscle strain should resolve in a few days time. It is also possible that an element of acute gastritis could be contributing to the abdominal discomfort, since it was the gastritis due to excessive alcohol consumption which caused the vomiting. Please avoid all spicy foods and of course avoid alcohol till complete resolution of discomfort.
