Could Painful Thick White Patch In The Place Of Tonsils With No Help From Medication Be Fungal?

I have thick white patching where my tonsils once were for 3 weeks. Agonising pain and difficult eating and drinking. I have been prescribed chlorhexine, orabase, hyrocortisone pellets, prednisone and painkillers and no improvement. Could it be fungal?

General Surgeon 's  Response
HI. Fungal infection of the tonsils is very rare. In fact this can be a form of tonsillitis which needs higher antibiotics and supportive therapy. A swab from this patch can give a better diagnosis. A consultation with an ENT surgeon is a must to know exact rare problem.
