Could Rashes In A Child Be Due To Viral Infection?

My 5 year old has had a rash for over two weeks now. I have been to his pedatrician when he first got them. He has a sore throat and a fever of 100 for 1 day. Then the rash began a day after. Went to his doctor he told me it was a viral rash and not contagious. It was not getting better so I called the office and told me to go to a dermatologist. Went to the dermatologist and they confirmed it was viral and gave me a steroid cream. I did not see any changes after 5 days went back to his pedatrician today and now they have told me its chicken pox. He has had his vaccination is this possible?

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I appreciate your concern towards your 5 yrs old son.

Was he given two doses of chicken pox vaccine?

The vaccine is given as two doses, separated by at least six weeks.
It gives maximum protection about six weeks after the second dose.

Usually almost all children develop immunity to the disease after two doses of vaccine.

Some vaccinated children even after receiving two doses will still get chickenpox but much milder form of the disease, with fewer blisters, lower fever, and an early recovery.

Hope this answers your query.
A feedback is highly appreciated.
