In 2012 he had the same pain and then now again.. He says his when it pains it also bulges ... we are suspecting it could be vericocele. .... we have not tried for kids yet .. v started planning last 4 months back... so I want to know will this lead to infertility? General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
What complaints you have posted about recurring pain and bulging in the testis could be varicocele or epididymo-orchitis.
Varicocele is enlargement of veins in the testis called 'Pampiniform plexus' of veins. It can be corrected by means of surgical procedure. It is known to lower the sperm counts, but might not affect fertility much.
Epididymo-orchitis is infection of the testis, which can be cured by administration of analgesics and antibiotics. It can cause alteration in sperm formation and morphology. But, once the infection is controlled, fertility can be restored to normal.
For diagnosis of these conditions, you can get his ultrasound scan of scrotum along with urine tested for culture and sensitivity.
Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
