Could Recurring Pain Below Belly Button With Nodular In Ileum Indicate Dehydration?

My 17 year old son for the past 4 wks has pain below the belly button. Intermittment pain with fluctating weight. Blood work came back ok, upper GI showed nodular in the ileum. Will get a colonoscopy on Wed. Ped Dr. first rules SMA symdrone becasues pain was relived by laying on the left side. Ruled out mono, cileatic disease, CVC negative. Also, always tried needs to take naps. Could this be from dehyrdation? No change in bowel movement, no fever, no vomiting. He his an acitve athlete plays HS baseball and just finished the season.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Recurrent pain in belly button with nodular ileum indicates alterations in the GI flora most likely causing secondary spasm of the intestines. Primary relief with antispasmodic as Drotaverine, Dicyclomine with Mefenamic acid or others till the colonoscopy report is available with expert GI specialist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
