Could Recurring Painful Scabs In Nostrils Indicate Nasal Herpes?
Hi Dr,
For the last several weeks I have had reoccurring painful scabs in both of my nostrils. Each time they crust in a different area. I am an Esthetician who does eyelash extensions and I know the glue is very fume-y and toxic...I also suffer from severe allergies but I am also concerned that I could have nasal herpes! Please help. Thank you.
As per your query you have scabs in nostrils . Well there can be many reasons for scabs in nostrils . Some common reasons are dryness in the nasal lining and passageways this normally happens in hot and dry conditions , blowing the nose too hard , overuse of nasal sprays and antihistamines , bacterial and viral infections inside the nasal lining and autoimmune conditions like Wegener’s granulomatosis . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist avoid picking of nose , try to keep yourself in humid environment and put mask on your nose while working with glue . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics course at least for a week .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
