Could Removal Of Mirena Cause Irregular Periods With Reduced Flow?

I removed the Mirena Jan 2015 had heavy periods Jan, Feb and March. Then all of the sudden my periods were slight to none. I haven t needed a pad since March; I ve been using panty liners bc of how light AF has been these past three months. I am starting to get very concerned - have an appt scheduled w obgyn this coming Tuesday. Must add some details: cycles have been pretty regular (26-28 days) minus this month( June) which was delayed to 32 days. Still unsure why but I do know I ovulated late which is why AF was also late. I have been temping for one month now to confirm ovulation and all looks good on that end. Any advise will be greatly appreciated - not knowing what s happening inside me is driving me insane.

Hi,

After removal of Mirena, your body would have been stripped of excess of hormone levels which is the cause of lighter periods in the next few months. Your body will need time to adjust to newer hormone levels. I would suggest you to wait for one or two cycles for your periods to regularize. If lighter bleeding continue, you can be started with hormonal pills to resume your periods.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
