Could Severe Cramps In Lower Abdomen Be Due To Mirena Coil?

Hi there i am 29 years old. I was sterilised in February and also had the Mirena coil fitted at the same time as I have suffered with endometriosis for the past ten years and nothing else has helped. I had a colposcopy in January and they biopsies an area which turned out to be CIN 1 cells. I returned to the hospital on Thursday for my follow up smear. Last night i was awoken by excruciating contraction type pains and they have been continuing all day. Is this my coil or could it be the smear? I found the smear extremely painful and the doctor remarked that i even made her wince in pain. Could you help me please?

I really appreciate your concern, such pain could be due uterine contraction may happen in premenstrual syndrome, this may not be due to IUD or smear, some time may be nonspecific, anxiety and depression may be the reason, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
