Could Severe Headaches Be Due To Vitosa?

My 70 yr old husband has diabetes, over weight, on several pills for various symptoms and recent dr prescribed Vitosa which is having good results. Within the past, two week, however, he is getting horrible headaches starting in his lower front left side of his jaw and radiates up through his cheek, through his temple and sinus area. They are becoming more and more severe. Right now he is in so much pain he s throwing up. We ve been trying a heating pad but doesn t help. Short of going to ER which is over an hour away what can I do for him in the meantime?

Hi,

Vitosa is a sweetener that contains a combination of erythritol and stevia. While headaches are not a common side effect of Vitosa, it is possible that your husband's headaches could be related to the sweetener or to any of his other medications.

Given your husband's symptoms and the severity of his headache, it is recommended that he seek medical attention immediately, either by calling his healthcare provider or going to the nearest emergency room. Severe headaches that cause vomiting can be a sign of a serious medical condition, such as a migraine, a stroke, or a brain injury.

In the meantime, you can try to provide some relief by helping him to rest in a quiet, dark room, using a cool compress on his forehead, and ensuring that he is well-hydrated. However, it is important to seek medical attention promptly for severe headaches, especially when they are accompanied by vomiting.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
