Could Short Temperedness And Irritability Be The Side Effects Of Levipil?

My husband(50 yrs) has been taking Levipil 500 mg (since one year) and Tegrital CR 200 mg for last 3 years. His temper has increased terribly ever since. Gets easily irritated at home and outside, maybe at the work place too. Sometimes my 18 yr old son gets beaten up for minor reasons. Is this bebaviour because of the medicine?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

His situation could be related to Levepil adverse effects. For this reason, I would recommend stopping Levepil and increasing the dose of Tegretol CR up to 800 or 1000 mg daily (also performing blood plasma levels of Tegretol). If this does not help maintain seizures under control, I would recommend adding Lamotrigine or Valproate to his therapy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
