Could Sore Throat And Prominent Veins In The Mouth Be Due To Ulcers?

Hi, 2 days ago I woke up with a slight cough and yesterday i started to have a sore throat. But I just woke up (3am GMT) with red veins all over my mouth, a couple white dots either side of the back of my mouth. The pain is now all the way down the throat inside and out and I cannot swallow or talk. Any idea if this is just ulcers or if it is something I should get checked out?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Granular Pharyngitis leading to white dots at the back of mouth with inflammation and veiny appearance..
It can be due to bacterial or Viral infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture will help..
In case of Bacterial infection a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can relieve..
Do warm saline gargles and also gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
You can also suck throat lozenges..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods and sip warm water and other warm fluids..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
