Could Soy Based Diet Increase Weight?

I am 56 yrs, I have been on soy based diet since I ve always been vegan & lactose intolerant, no problem, except my weight blew way out of control and quickly, I drink 1 litre of soy milk every two days and tofu 2or three times a week.. could soy be the weight gain culprit?

Soy protein is an extremely healthy, low fat and dairy-free protein source. Soy milk contains some of the fibrous parts of the bean. The active ingredients in soy are called isoflavones.

Soy is used for high cholesterol, high blood pressure and preventing diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

Hence, it doesn't cause increase in weight gain.
