Could Stiffness Between Shoulder Blades Be Related To Posterior Disk Bulge?
Hi I ve recently had an MRI and it states - shallow broadbased prosterior disk bulges C4/5 and C5/6 but no spinal stenosis or nerve root impingement is evident - have not been able to sleep properly and now have woken up with a really stiff back between shoulder blades - could this ve related? Thanks in advance
Yes your doubt is true, this stiffness is related to the disc bulge. Bulged disc irritates surrounding muscles, ligaments and nerves. This is reason behind the stiff back. You need to discuss treatment with your doctor as this condition will require 1 neck stability (collar support) 2 pain killers and anti inflammatory 3 heat therapy 4 physiotherapy (stretching) This treatment will be enough to recover as there is no stenosis or nerve impingement. In some cases surgical correction is required. In case of no relief you need to visit neurosurgeon.
I hope i have clarified your queries. Do write for follow up queries. Kindly provide feedback. I wish you rapid and complete recovery. Thank you.
