Could Stomach Pain Be Related To Partial Colectomy?

I had a partial colectomy in June of 2014. I ve been experiencing pain in stomach sometimes sharp and problems with my bowels(irregular ). I went to gastrologist and was put on a low residue diet for 2 months. This is my first week of this diet. I m taking symax for pain, however there are side effects. I m 67 years old. Could any of these problems I m having be related to the surgery? Should I go back to the surgeon?

Hello,

* Usually recovered partial colectomy will not pause a threat of upper abdomen or stomach discomfort.

There can be various possible reasons for the same as

- digestive enzyme deficiency
- gut flora disturbances
- lack of water intake
- low fiber intake in diet
- lack of exercise
- constipation
- stress and anxiety
- associated consumption of smoking, alcohol
- spicy diet
- others.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
