Could Swelling In Clavicle Be Due To Fat Deposition?
I have a node (2cm) on the left side of my neck. There is significant swelling on the clavicle area. The biopsy came back negative and the doctor said it s just fat and not swelling on my neck . Is that possible that all of a sudden I have a fat deposit ony neck? I m 5 6 and 135 lbs. I had the biopsy 6 weeks ago and for the last 3 weeks my feet and ankles are swelling. Both swell but the left foot/ankle seems a little worse. Should I get checked again? Thank you
Hello, greetings! Thanks for posting your query. You seem to have a fat deposition on the clavicle, this fat deposition is called a lipoma. There is no apparent causative factor, although there maybe some genetic predisposition. Its a non cancerous condition and thus, there is nothing to worry about. Treatment is usually for cosmetic reasons and is done by simple excision. You may go for a check up again if the lipoma is getting bigger, gets painful or changes in colour as these situations point towards the possibility of the lipoma turning cancerous. If none of these changes are taking place, the lipoma maybe left alone.
