Could Swollen Neck And Throat Be Due To Strep Throat?

I had noticed a weird sore throats start monday and looking back my neck was getting sore. By wednesday it hurt to touch my neck from my ears about down to chest bone it was so sore and also hurt a bit to turn. I new i was running a slight fever and left work early wednesday and took Nite time and went to bed about 5 ish wednesday eve was running a fever yesterday about 101.7-101.9 stayed home yesterday from work thinking it would go away but should have probably went to doc yesterday. I could not move my neck or open my mouth very far my throat and neck were so inflammed. I finally went to a care now today and they said it was strep. Now looking it up I should have seen him yesterday. Is the severe swelling of neck and throat part of strep throat. I am a 52yr old female
