Could Taking Marijuana Be Harmful In Condition Of Pericarditus?

hi i was recently diagnosed with paricarditus. I m currently on a regiment of 650 mg of aspirin three times a day and colcrys .06 mg twice a day. I haven t had any pain since i left the hosptial two days ago. Would i be able to smoke a small amount of marijuana without putting my heart in harm s way?

Slight risk. Marijuana has an underappreciated cardiostimulatory effect (increased pulse and blood pressure). If the heart is already ticklish, and it is with pericarditis, any other stimulant may cause rapid heart beat/arrhythmia. Even fatal ones. The overall risk is pretty small but non-zero. Holter monitor, cardiologist input, getting over the pericarditis first are some options
