Could Tender Abdomen, Lightheadedness, Frequent Bowel Movements And Delayed Periods Be Due To Intake Of Pill After Intercourse?
Hi, I had unprotected sex, sex lasted about 5-7 mins, there was no ejaculation and 48 hours later I took the plan b one step emergency contraceptive pill. I was fine afterwards followed by a minor headache and slight abdominal pain. Now I just have a weird feeling. A week later and now I have sharp abdominal pain, my abdomen is tender. It hurts when I press down slightly above my belly button. I have felt slightly lightheaded. Followed by sharp back pains also with frequent gas and bowel movements. My period is 5 days late. A have some minor breakouts nothing major. Could I be pregnant? I thought it was just period symptoms, I understand the pill can delay your period due to the high levels if hormones.
OCP’s can prevent pregnancy but these medications are not 100% effective, and moreover, the sooner we take it after sexual intercourse the more effective it is.
So I suggest you go for a pregnancy test first. Delayed periods can be caused by intake of OCP’s but there are chances of conceiving even after taking OCP’s.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
