Could The Abdominal Pain Be Due To Anechoic Cyst And High ESR?
Hello,
Recently my wife got back and abdominal pain. She went to a local doctor who did a series of tests which are CBC, ultrasound of abdomen and TV scan. CBC was normal except ESR is 30 and her abdominal scan is also normal but her TV scan shows that she has a right ovary well defined thin walled anechoic cyst 61 * 38 mm along with some part of normal ovarian tissue and two follicles. No septation or solid component seen. Rest is normal. The local doctor prescribed her ovaral G to take for 3 cycles and then to follow back. I want to know if this is a critical condition that requires immediate surgical intervention, whether I should take a second opinion. Plus her brother died of a brain tumor 3 years back, so I am little more concerned. Thanx
Hi. Thanks for an elucidate history, albeit a less- you would have told about associated symptoms. ESR of 30 just suggests an old infection or a chronic problem and not related to the cyst for sure -->> because the cyst is simple and less than 7 cm ( 61 by 38 and I wonder they have missed this on regular USG abdomen). Simple cysts usually regress well on their own. They need a surgical removal if there are signs and symptoms of rotation ( torsion). Yes , it is always better to take a second opinion of a reputed Gynecologist. Please do not worry, this is not a cancer.
