Could The Abnormal Cells From The Cervix Have Been HPV?

back in 2003 I underwent surgery to remove some abnormal cells from my cervix that could have become cancerous. I went to the doctor recently and he stated that from the medical note he received from the surgery I had, they removed hpv. I have no genital warts and no other doctor has stated this. I am rather nervous about this. I plan to contact the doctor that performed the surgery to find out if hpv was what I had. I have no genital warts, but I have been told I have endometriosis. I have had several pap smears since this and no one has said I have hpv. Could I have it?
