Could The Bent Rod In The Arm Mean The Nexplanon Is In Working Condition?

I have had the nexplanon for 2 years now and had regular periods since having it inserted, it was not inserted while I was on my cycle and I have missed my last period. I have recently just noticed that the rod is bent in my arm. Is it still in full working order?

Hello,

Bent Nexplanon does not affect its efficacy to prevent pregnancy. Getting an X-ray done can rule out if the implant is just bent or broken. If broken you may consider replacement of Nexplanon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
