Could The Causes Of BPPV Be Due To Ear Pain?

I have a bad bout of bppv but also have been having the odd earach from the same ear. Is having earache at the same time as bppv a concern? I have had bppv on and off now for 3 years and it s the first time I have had earache with it. Thank you. I am 38 years old, 5ft4 and about 168lbs. I m in good general health apart from the bppv.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

BPPV is more commonly referred to an issue of the inner ear. Inner ear infections can cause ear pain and vertigo. I suggest using OTC antihistamines to relieve the vertigo. I also recommend using painkillers to treat the pain.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
