Could The Difficulty In Swallowing Be Related To Diabetes?

I am concerned for my son. He is 32 yrs old and recently has swallowing problems. He thinks it could be related to diabetes. Observing him over a weekend family break he did have a severe swallowing problem, extreme fatigue - almost comatose - mood swings and he is binging on packets of biscuits and has put on a lot of weight. I am worried and going to advise him to see his doctor . However can you give me any re assurance or advise so that I can persuade him he has a health problem . Thank you

Hello,
Welcome to HCM
I understand your concerns. As such, diabetes wont cause difficulty in swallowing.
The cardinal symptoms of diabetes are polyuria (increased frequency of urination),polyphagia (increased eating) and polydipsia (increased drinking).

As your son is having mood swings along with binge eating,i would suggest you to take him for psychiatrist consultation.Try to convince him about the matter by stressing about his weight gain.

Hope i have answered your query.

Thank you.
