Could The Irregular Periods Be Due To Premenopausal Stage?

Hi I just turned 48 I have a two year old and my periods for the last 4 months have been coming every 20-23 days. Its been 31 now and I haven t gotten my period yet. 9 days ago my husband and I had sex without protection. I tried a cheap home pregnancy test yesterday morning and it said negative. Is there still a chance I could be pregnant or is this signs of premenopause?
