Could The Light Headedness And Dizziness Be Due To Pressure In The Ear?

Had a molar extracted 4 days ago and was under sedation. I am still feeling light headed, dizzy at times and pressure to my ear and eye. is this normal? I am not experiencing any pain and I had never had any anesthesia prior to this procedure. The swelling just went down and my face is pretty bruised from the procedure. (molar had 4 roots - don t know if that make a difference in the amt. of sedative) Just feel very out of sorts.

Hello,

Pressure to one side eye and ear may be pain due to nerves going from your teeth and jaw cross around your head. After a tooth is extracted, the nerve pain coming from the socket where the tooth was pulled sends out a pain response.

The pain travels along this nerve up to and around your ear, making you feel the “earache” pain. It may be jaw muscle spasm after continuous opening of mouth et cetera. Eustachian tube block with sinusitis may also cause this problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
