Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Unprotected sex is a high risk in terms of herpes as well as other STD's.
Testing just a week after unprotected sex is too soon and does'nt entirely rule out Herpes. I will suggest a repeat testing at around about 2 weeks for herpes.
The
incubation period of herpes varies from 2-12 days and if you notice any blisters or erosions developing over the next few days, they might be herpes.
Having said that, the infection with herpes virus can be totally asymptomatic to begin with and may clinically manifest later on.
The
redness could be unrelated to herpes; it could be a yeast infection. It would be better if you present yourself for examination to a venereologist for a confirmatory diagnosis.
A yeast infection would require noting more than an OTC
topical antifungal cream e.g
clotrimazole 1% cream, twice daily for 7 days.
Testing is also advisable for other STD's like HIV and
syphilis at 1 month after sexual contact. If negative, this is to be repeated again at 3 months to be conclusive.

Always practice safe sex with a condom!
