Could The Round Red, Itchy Bumps And Red Spots On My Wife S Leg Be Related To Her Medical Abortion Or The Use Of Misoprostol?

Hi, my wife had a medical abortion a month ago and now her period has arrived and she noticed round red, ichy bumps on her right leg and red spots. What are these? Are they due to abortion? She took misoporostol. She says she is not sure that rash appeared now she thinks there were few red spots earlier too

Hello,

Keep the affected area clean, avoid hot showers, tight clothing, or irritants. Avoid scratching. If it is itchy, apply a thin layer of ointment Hydrocortisone. If it is not itchy, apply Clotrimazole ointment on the affected area. Applying Lacto-calamine lotion will also give relief. Mild rashes are possible with misoprostol but very rare. Commonly such bumps occur due to insect bite.

Taking antihistamine as a single dose will give relief. Other factors that can cause such symptoms are fungal infection, contact dermatitis, or folliculitis. Ideally, she should get relieve after applying the ointment and medicines as above. In case the bumps rapidly spread, or if she gets fever, fatigue, or other systemic symptoms. get her clinically examined by a gynecologist. She may require getting a few tests done.
