Could The Shadow On The Left Lower Lung Be Cancer?
My wife has had Addison s Disease for almost 20 years. For the past few days she has complained af pains in her chest and a gruffness in her voice. She had a difficult night last night and woke me at 6.00 a.m.. We both thought she was going into an Addisonian crisis, so we called an ambulance which, after giving her a hydrocortisone injection, took her to the local A&E. After the usual tests they took an x-ray which indicated a shadow on the lower left lung. They made no comment about the possibility of cancer, however, about several (about 10) of her close relatives on her mother s side have died of cancers of various types. No one on her father s side have died of cancer. What steps should we take now to ensure my wife does not have cancer?
Since your wife has a shadow in left lower lung in x ray i would advise her to do CT scan of chest with contrast. If any space occupying lesion is found then do do biopsy from it to rule out malignancy.
