Could The Shiny Surface On The Penis Be Due To STD?

I am a male concerned about a possible STD. Had unprotected sex on September 5 and October 5. I went to my doctor, and she used a swab and sent it to a lab. The results came back negative for both chlamydia and gonorrhea. Then as part of general blood lab tests, I was apparently then tested for STD's (kinds unknown). And thirdly, I was given doxycycline for 14 days (though I had not been diagnosed with having a specific STD). However, a small area on the top of the head of my penis is shinny, and I seem to think that part of the base may seem "powdery." No pimples or bumps. Can you help me?

Hello dear,

Thank you for your contact to health care magic.

I read and understand your concern.

I am Dr Arun Tank answering your concern.

No, shiny skin is not a STDs.

This is also supported by your repeated negative STDs test.

I advice you not to take any drugs.

All you have to do is to maintain good hygiene, you can clean the area frequently with normal water.

While taking bath you can also add few drops of dettol to the bucket. This can clear any possible unknown infection.

You can also apply telcum powder locally to avoid the sweat.

I will be happy to answer your further concern on bit.ly/DrArun.

Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank
